4:6 Breathing: Breathwork For Anxiety

Feeling overwhelmed and anxious, in need of a reset? Breathwork to calm & ground you that anyone can do, no matter where you are.

Wherever you are, try this simple breathwork now and instantly shift your state 🌬☁️ I do this every morning…

Find a comfortable seat and gently land where you are. Alternatively if you can, lie on your back - neck supported with a cushion. Place both hands on the lower belly. You might like to close down through the eyes if it serves you. Let the eyes be light. How to:

~ Inhale through the nose for a count of 4, as you breathe in the belly expands. Exhale through the nose for a count of 6, as you breathe out the belly contracts back towards the spine. You might like to add a retention hold in between your inhales and exhales. Repeat 10-20 times or as many times as you need.

As you lie or sit there, feel the weight of your bones on the earth. Invite these deep, slow breaths into the belly and soften through the upper body with every exhale.

Lengthening our exhales is a powerful way we can tend to and regulate our nervous system - activating our natural states of rest, digestion and repair (parasympathetic) 🌱

~ Come back to this practise whenever you need. Share this blog post with anyone who may need it. Let me know how you go! 🌷
