Meditation for beginners βοΈ
Whether youβre new to meditation or struggling with it, as a yoga & meditation teacher, these are my top tips:
Take the pressure off yourself! Donβt overcomplicate it - Itβs not meant to look perfect, let go of the judgement. There are no rules! Iβve been meditating since I was 15 and how I meditated back then is so different to how I meditate now. Your meditation practise will evolve with you! Reminder to be gentle with yourself & enjoy the process π
Choose the meditation you can stick to: Standing, sitting upright, lying on your back, against a wall, walking, in bed. All valid forms of meditation - find what works for you and what you enjoy the most. Try a guided meditation if you struggle sitting with your own thoughts (these are my fave) - A visualisation meditation, body scan meditation and Yoga Nidra meditations are all incredible (I love guiding these at the end of my classes)
Dim the lighting & set the scene - close down the lights, light some candles, set the scene and set up some projector lighting if it serves you
Start with just 2 minutes - Start with 2 minutes of stillness. Slowly work your way up to 5, 10 and then 20 minutes once you feel ready but know that 30 seconds to 2 minutes is just as impactful as 10
